Matisse // Klee
Recently I’ve learned how important it is to be writing down goals and practicing creative free writing. Set a timer, pick a topic (or don’t), and start writing. Don’t pick up your pen until the timer goes off. This exercise helps me visualize my thoughts which makes sketching and ideation easier. In addition to this I have been writing down my goals in health, relationships, vocation, and time every week. Don’t sweat the small stuff, if your thoughts are more focused on your overarching dreams (thinking of yourself achieving everything you’ve ever wanted) you can easily let go of anxiety related to smaller things.
It has been about a week since I moved to NYC! I am grateful for all my friends couches and unlimited 3am pizza. I have finally settled into Brooklyn, now the real work begins.
Another fun portrait study in procreate.
Some tokens of gratitude for my loving customers. Thank you!
I studied abroad in Lacoste, France for three months. The weather was cold, the village was deserted except for the sprinkle of SCAD students. It was here that I met some of my closest friends and colleagues. The close encounters and lack of entertainment forced all of us to create our own fun, which turned out to be long nights in the lab singing at the top of our lungs (sorry Cedric). I do not believe I will ever know the sweet bliss of eating croissants with honey and brie for breakfast, lunch, and dinner ever again. It’s probably for the best.
Preliminary sketches done for Paddle North, a paddle board company located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. These sketches were created for a T-shirt Design.
This is where my experimentation with type happened. After completing the layout for my illustrations, I selected different typefaces and transferred them onto the paper with ammonia next to my chosen visuals. Some experiments happened with textures. For example ; Dark blocked out blacks or scribbled hatching.
My very first screen print! I used a Molotow paint marker and Mylar to draw my design then transfered them via exposure onto my screens.
Playing around in Procreate after getting my Ipad and Pencil.
This is for all the folks who don’t use a blinker, chew with their mouth open, throw trash on the street, and eat your food.
